e.r. first aid ~ POISONOUS SPIDER BITES IN THE WILD!
sHave you ever been in the middle of nowhere and gotten bit by a poisonous spider? Would you know what plants to use to make an emergency poultice if you did? Listen to Kim as she shares what one of her mentors taught her about how to help heal a black widow spider bite naturally. The poultice should be reapplied every 4 hours for about 3-4 days if you decide not to seek medical help. Leaving the poultice on for 3-4 days should draw the poison out completely, but you'll still have tracers that the spider leaves behind. Tracers are chemical trails that the spider leaves in your skin in order to track you if you get away. That's why most people are not just bit once, but multiple times in their life by black widows. They can smell those tracers. They are fascinating little creatures.
If a child is bitten by a black widow spider, seek an Emergency Room immediately. Black Widow Spider bites will kill a small child within only a few hours. Most adults will only suffer from headaches, fever and discomfort in the site of the bite.
An old remedy that my mentor Vivian Rice used to save a small child's life was to take the black widow spider carcass and put it in a two ounce glass amber tincture bottle with clean natural spring water. She shook the bottle of water with the carcass inside for 3 minutes. She strained the carcass off the remedy with cheesecloth. This is how old-timers would make an anti-venom. Vivian then took a few drops and put it on the child's esophageal notch on her throat. She did not ingest any of the anti-venom. Vivian's knowledge and the mother's quick response in saving the spider carcass saved her little two year old daughter's life.
Years later, this same woman came to Vivian's Lifetime Award Ceremony and shared the story of how Vivian saved her daughter's life with this old folk remedy. Everyone was incredibly moved by this woman's tears of gratitude for Vivian's life-saving remedies. Her daughter is a grown woman now with children of her own. Life is such a precious gift.
