Somatics is not a different style of yoga but rather a therapeutic style of movement, a way of re-educating the way our brain senses and moves the muscles. Soma means mind/body. With every movement your awareness is divided between body sensation and breath. This practice creates greater ease of movement, re-patterns body mapping, and is helping to release trauma held in the entire system of your being. Release pain in your body, become mindful and know who you are through somatic movement. Join Kim as she teaches an hour long class every Wednesday from noon - 1 pm at Yoga Studio Satya. If you have a difficult time stilling the mind or being present in the body, Somatic Movement is the right class for you. Somatic Movement will teach your mind to be still, how to be present in your body and break through emotional blocks that stand in your way. It integrates the physiology, soma and emotional bodies for a deeper awareness. This class has slow methodical movements which are created to break through muscular amnesia and emotional blocks where healing on a physiological, emotional and somatic level can happen.
